San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.
Located on the Pacific Coast five miles south of San Clemente, California, this station, which went into commercial operation January, 1968, has a generating capacity of 450,000 kilowatts - enough power to supply a city of more than half a million population.  The plant was built by two investor-owned utilities, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas and Electric.  The two companies share costs and output of the station - Edison, 80% and San Diego Gas and Electric.  20%.
